Michele Bigley is a writer, mom, educator, explorer, activist, dancer and gardener. Her award-winning writing has appeared in Sierra, Conde Nast Traveler, Afar, WIRED, Hidden Compass, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, CNN, Via, Utne Reader, Yes! and many more.
She is writing a book, Mothering in the Anthropocene, about how taking her sons to meet the people stewarding fragile ecosystems around the world taught her how to tend to her community.
Michele teaches writing at SDSU.
When not working or traveling, you'll likely find Michele tending to the community garden she built in her front lawn, stand up paddleboarding or hiking the California coast, or dancing.
